Senator says he’ll let courts decide if Clinton plan violated law

Historically, the Forest Service built roads like this one to help loggers. The Clinton administration now wants to stop new roads on 43 million acres of national forest.

MSNBC STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS

July 13 — Idaho Sen. Larry Craig has dropped plans to try to halt President Bill Clinton’s plan to ban new roads on 43 million acres of national forest. Craig said he had the votes to pass his amendment, but withdrew it to allow the courts to decide whether the Clinton administration
violated open meeting laws by discussing the initiative with environmentalists before it was announced.

Roadblock lifted on roadless forests

Clinton and Gore are rapidly gobbling up millions of acres of public lands and closing it off to all of the American people, with the exception of the hikers. Hunting, ranching, mining, logging, camping, and the simple pleasure of just taking the family for a drive out in the hills will soon be a thing of the past.

The physically challenged and the elderly will no longer be allowed the enjoyment of a drive through the wilderness. Parents will no longer be allowed to teach their children how to hunt. Families who depend on game to feed their children will no longer be allowed to hunt.

The "Clinton-Gore Land Legacy includes millions of acres in 39 states and also (get this) Puerto Rico. If we lose our land, we lose our heritage. The "Clinton-Gore Land Legacy" would like to see us all on a reservation just like the the Native Americans in the 1800's.

Please help us ban together and put a stop to the largest land grab by the government in the history of the United States.
